If is used for conditions in which something may or may not happen in the future depending on the circumstances. (not sure)

If-sentences (conditionals)

Je gebruikt een if-sentence (conditional clause) voor feiten, waarschijnlijke situaties en onwaarschijnlijke situaties.

Een if-sentence bestaat uit een hoofdzin- en een bijzin. 

In de bijzin staat de voorwaarde beschreven en in de hoofdzin  het gevolg. 

De volgorde maakt niet uit: je kunt de bijzin (de voorwaarde) vooraan zetten, maar ook de hoofdzin (het gevolg). Let op: Als je de hoofdzin (het gevolg) vooraan zet, dan gebruik je geen komma in de zin.
