Adjective (bijvoeglijk naamwoord)
The tall building.  
Tells us something about a person or thing (noun/zelfstandig naamw). 

Position in sentence:​ Before a noun  > tall building

big car, blue car, fast car, modern car, dangerous car, etc.

Adverbs (bijwoorden)
I rarely eat breakfast. He walked carefully.
 
Use: 
Tells us something about a verb or an adjective. 

Position in sentence:​ 
The adverb must be placed either before the verb or at the end of the clause.
An adverb of manner cannot be put between a verb and its direct object.

Irregular issues 
  • good vs well: Barcelona is a good team and they play well.
  • daily, early, strange and more don't change
  • hard vs hardly --> different meanings
  • sensory perception: taste, look, feel, smell, sound --> adjective in stead of adverb. (so no nicely, greatly, well etc.)
