Modals
Hoofdwerkwoorden (walk, eat) kunnen veranderen afhankelijk van de tijd (walked, ate), maar je kunt hulpwerkwoorden gebruiken om aan te geven dat je iets kan doen, mag doen, wil doen, enzovoorts.
- Can you walk to school?                    - I might come to your party.
- You shouldn't walk to school.          - I must clean this up.
- I will walk to school.                             - You have to be on time.

Can = kunnen
Could = zou kunnen (en beleefde vragen)
"I can't come to your party" & "Could you help me out?"

May = mogen 
Might = zou mogen (en beleefde vragen)
"You may come to my party." & "I might be able to come."

Shall = zal (bij hulp aanbieden)
Would = zou willen / zouden

Should = zou (eigenlijk) moeten, vooral bij advies/afraden
Must = moeten (als je zelf vindt dat iets moet)
Have to = moeten (als iemand anders vindt dat iets moet)
