In this presentation some of the Literary Devices will be highlighted. Not all of them are included, which means you will have to research the rest yourself.

  • Title explanation, Setting, Narrator, Protagonist, Antagonist, Conflict, Flashback, Foreshadowing, Irony, Alliteration, Metaphor, Theme, Symbol.  
  • Plot (introduction, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution)
  • Characters (names and descriptions)

Definition:
The narrator is "the voice" telling the story.

The Adventure of the Speckled Band
Dr Grimesby Roylott wants to kill both stepdaughters to keep the money from his late wife. Helen Stoner does not want to die. Sherlock Holmes wants to stop Dr Grimesby Roylott.

A Scandal in Bohemia
Irene Adler has pictures in her possession which are potentially damaging for the king of Bohemia's plans to marry. His  soon to be family-in-law won't like his past, so he needs the pictures back. Sherlock Interveins to help the King. 

The Final Problem
Professor Moriarty, head of the world of crime, wants to kill Sherlock Holmes. Moriarty chases Holmes around Europe. Holmes wants Moriarty stopped.

Bed is stuck
The bed in the step sister room is nailed to the floor. This is to prevent people from moving the bed to another spot in the room. 

Why is it important for the murderous plan that the bed remains in this spot?
Wall vent
There is a hole for ventilation in between the two bedrooms. The Bedroom of Dr Grimesby Roylott and his step daughter. 

Why is this suspicious?
Bell rope
A bell rope is a rope suspended from the ceiling so people can call for a servant from their bed. The actual bell would be downstairs in the servants quarters. This bell rope is a fake, why? What is it used for?

Steps:
Choose a character from the list but keep it secret for one of the players. 
Through a series of question with "Yes/ No" answer options, the player needs to figure out who they are.
