Writing tasks
  • 2 writing tasks
  • Both will be formal
  • One will be longer (9 marks)
  • One will be shorter (6 marks)
  • Read the scenario very carefully first (all of the text)
  • Ensure you cover everything in the bullet points

Getting as many marks as possible
  • Usually 4 marks for grammar, 4 marks for punctuation and 2 marks for spelling
  • Make sure each sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop.
  • Does the sentence make sense on its own?
  • One idea = one sentence
  • Paragraphs must have at least 2/3 sentences (apart from first and last paragraph of letters/emails).

  • Take one idea...

  • Explain your point (This means that..This is because...)
  • Give an example (An example of this is... For example...)
