Practise your English speaking skills.
  • present a 5 slide presentation on design rules to your peers. You will give each other feedback.
  • practise advising customers on their interior.
  • learn how to develop a professional and long-lasting relationship with a customer.
  • send a voicemail message to your manager about how you've handled a specific client.

Have you made your appointment @TRC for your practice test Reading & Listening?
You must have taken this test before 29 March.
Send the TRC a message via Teams (tegel) or walk by room 601.


Make sure to schedule a spot on time! It will be busier in the TRC during the last weeks
of this period and there might not be space for you to take the test.

During the last class, you watched a video by Kelly Hoppen,
'the queen of creme', in which she gave tips on 5 topics. 

Next week you will present your slides to your peers (in English).
You will have some time to work on your presentation today.

But first, let's work on our presentation skills! 

             Have you ever been scared of presenting in English?
             How do you handle your nerves/ stress? Is there anyone who likes presenting?

TODAY'S LESSON:

you understand eachother and communicate well.
What is a tip that you would give someone who is nervous for a presentation in English?

What is most important when you are presenting to your classmates?
That they can hear you, so speak up!
That you know what you are talking about, so be confident!
That you make eye contact and connect with your peers.
That you know everything from heart and make no mistakes.
That you make it a little personal/ funny, so try to enjoy it!
That you try to breath and not fall to the floor crying.
Having good speaking cards, be prepared!
That you practice your presentation beforehand.

  • Make eye contact and use your hands (= more natural).
  • Introduce yourself at the start of the presentation.
  • Present your ideas/ examples. Look up words that you don't know.
  • Speak slowly and clearly.
  • Avoid ‘closure’ cues such as “That’s it.” or ” I’m done.”
                                   What would be a better way to end your presentation?
  • Practice beforehand if you are feeling nervous.
  • Notes (with key words) are allowed but don't read your notes. 
  • Those listening should try to give a TOP and a TIP.

Finish your presentation
After finding your examples.                                                      +/- 25 minutes
Use the worksheet:

  • Finish your presentation of 5 slides. You can use Powerpoint/ Prezi/ Canva etc.
  • Each slide is about one of Kelly’s tips. Answer the questions and find your own examples (=photos) of interiors.
  • Explain why these are good examples of her tips.
  • You can create speaking cards (only key words)
