Have you ever wondered what profession would you like to be in when you grow up? What motivated you into making the decision?

Rabindranath Tagore was a great poet. He was born on 7 May 1861 in Kolkata.His father's name was Devendranath Tagore.His mother's name was Sharda Devi.

He was interested in writing poems from his childhood.

They were all educated and artistic in their family.

He was sent to England for the studies of advocacy.

From there he returned after one year.

He wrote the national anthem "Jan Gun Mann" of our country. He died in Kolkata on August 7, 1941.

What wishes does the child in the poem make? Why does the child want to be a hawker, a gardener, or a watchman?

The poem is about how a child gets attracted to the ways of people around him and finds different curiosities and attractions in their lives. He is not aware of the tough routine they have to go through. It also shows his innocence and lack of worldly sense.
