• You can write clearly, accurately, and coherently during class and adapt your language and style for a drama in English. You can also present a self-written text at the end of the lesson in English. (For roughly 2 minutes.)

What is a tv drama?

1. A passionate story
2. A funny story
3. A sad story
4. A sensational story

Have you watched a drama before? If so which one?

Match the tv drama with the title.

Today you will be writing an opening scene for a drama

First, you will come up with a protagonist. 

You have 10 minutes to come up with: Who they are, where they live, What they want, and Why they want it 

Next, you will develop a plot: the storyline, and what happens during the drama.

Example

Who: John Smith, Eighteen years old, 

Where: Lives in the Netherlands

What: He wants revenge on his brother

Why: John's brother has stolen his wife

Plot: John's brother has stolen his wife. Now he is going to confront his brother and get his wife back. A fight ensues and his wife dies—The end.

Now come up with a cast of characters 

Cast of Characters: A list of characters, along with a brief description of each character and their relation to the main character, is typically included at the beginning of a script.

Example: Lisa Smith: John's wife. She works at a bakery and has run away with John's brother

Write an opening scene for a drama

It must be roughly 100 words

Describe the setting, the clothing, and the time the story takes place.

When you are done read your neighbor's work and give them feedback.
