Grammar: Gerund
Form: verb + ing
Use: a verb used as a noun, used after verbs such as to love, to like, to hate:
  • I hate writing.
  • I love travelling.
  • I like reading.

Grammar: to + infinitive
Form: to + infinitive (= hele ww)
Use: after verbs such as to want, to hope, to ask, to expect, to refuse, to promise, to decide, to plan
  • They refuse to spend too much money.
  • I expect to arrive around noon.
  • We hope to learn a lot in class.

Difference Gerund & Infinitive
Gerund is used as a noun:
"I love running in the mornings."

Infinitive is used as a verb:
"I need to run home as fast as I can!"

Use: Often in combination with -thing  to talk about things
  • Some-: for limited number or amount
  • Any-: for unlimited number or amount
  • Every-: meaning 'all'
  • No-: meaning- 'none'
