In a cave near Mecca in the year 610 Muhammed was visited by the angel Gabriel. Muhammed learned the name of god ''Allah'' and was ordered by Gabriel  to spread it.

Muhammed became a prophet.

It is the religion of the muslims.
-Like Christianity and Jewdom in Islam ther is only one god. That is why it is a monotheistic belief (belief in one god).

-Muslims pray in a mosque.
-Mecca is the holy city of the Islam

Muhammed and his followers  were not welcome in Mecca.
In 622 they went to medina. Muhammed became leader of medina. In 630 he conquered the city Mecca.

When Muhammed died Caliphs took over his reign.
They were succesors of Muhammed.
