Best match

As many relevant terms as possible in a row in the search bar. When you are not systematically searching yet, this method easily generates results. The best match method is a good method to use in your orientation phase.

 You use the literature list of a text to search further. And then again…down side: publications might get less and less up to date.

Reverses snowball: you have found a good article and then look for the sources that refer to this good article. Go to Google scholar then search within the cited articles shown.

Building block method

You divide your search query into elements. For each element (keyword) you determine keywords. Think of related terms, broader and narrower terms, synonyms, wildcards, etc. Then you put the elements in the "block diagram". At a single glance it is clear how and when you can combine AND and OR operators in your search, because terms that are horizontal can be combined with AND and terms that are vertical (in the same column) with OR.

Boolean searching is searching with the help of the so-called Boolean operators AND, OR and NOT. These allow you to combine your search terms in a certain way. This may be relevant to your search result. In any case, it helps you to sharpen your search result.

Search Strategies: What were the most effective search strategies you used to find relevant sources? Did you encounter any challenges in refining your search? How did you overcome them?

Source Evaluation: How did you assess the credibility and relevance of the sources you found? Did you come across any conflicting information in your sources? How did you handle it?

General vs. Specific: In what situations did you find it more beneficial to use general or specific terms in your search?

Application to Future Work: How can the skills developed in this exercise be applied to your upcoming research or projects?
