Tissue fluid and lymph & Blood groups

Basics: 3.9 & 3.10

Slide 1 - Diapositive

Recap
Where are our capillaries? What is their function?

How do we recognize stuff (a.o. pathogens) in our body?

Slide 2 - Diapositive

Today's goals
You will have an understanding of what our lymphatic system is, and how it functions

You will know what it means to have a certain blood group

Lymphatic system

Slide 11 - Diapositive

How do the waste products get collected?
At the transition from artery to capillary a part of the blood gets pushed out of the capillaries because of the high pressure
-> It becomes tissue fluid (dissolved oxygen and nutrients)
-> Also contains carbon dioxide and other waste products, gets partially reabsorbed by the capillaries

Slide 12 - Diapositive

The rest of the tissue fluid flows into the lymphatic vessels

Slide 13 - Diapositive

Lymphatic vessel
A bit similar to veins, how do they move the lymph, and where to?

Discuss in breakout rooms, 2 minutes

Slide 14 - Diapositive

Lymph nodes: purify the lymph (Important for the immunesystem!)

Slide 18 - Diapositive

Today's goals
You will have an understanding of what our lymphatic system is, and how it functions

You will know what it means to have a certain blood group

You will (hopefully) enjoy the lesson and learn something, despite the fact that it has to be online
