Men also have a cycle

Many hormones are involved:
LH
Luteinizing hormone (LH) is a chormone in your body that stimulates important processes in your reproductive system, like ovulation. It is made in the pituitary gland.
FSH
Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) is a hormone your pituitary gland makes and releases that plays a role in sexual development and reproduction. It affects the function of ovaries and testicles.
Testosterone
In humans, testosterone plays a key role in the development of male reproductive tissues such as testicles and prostate, as well as promoting secondary sexual characteristics such as increased muscle and bone mass, and the growth of body hair.
