Linking words

Linking words are words or phrases that help us understand the relationships between different parts of a text. 

They tell us when something is happening, why it's happening, or how it's connected to other ideas. 

For example, signal words like "first," "next," and "finally" show us the order of events, while words like "because" and "so" explain the reason behind something.

Why do you need to know about linking words in order to prepare for your exam?

• Find the 11 linking words in the text

• Read the text
• Underline or highlight the 11 linking words
• Some of the linking words are in the text more than once.
• Write the linking words in the grid (schema)
