Vorige week heb je uitleg gehad over de Future (toekomst) in het Engels. Je had hier ook huiswerk over.

We gaan nu verder met een 2e onderdeel: De vergelijkende en overtreffende trap

Woorden van 1 lettergreep:

- Comparative: -er

- Superlative: -est

Woorden van 2 lettergrepen

Woorden van 2 lettergrepen die eindigen op le/er/ow/y/some krijgen ook

 +er  / + est

Yellow - yellower than - the yellowest

Gentle - gentler than - the gentlest

Let op! Woorden die eindigen op een medeklinker + y krijgen IER/IEST

Happy - happier than - the happiest

Woorden van 3 lettergrepen of meer:

- Comparative: more

- Superlative: the most

expensive

more expensive

the most expensive

Een aantal woorden van 2 lettergrepen krijgen ook more en most

bijvoorbeeld:

famous - more famous - the most famous

boring - more boring - the most boring

Uitzonderingen:

Veel = many - more than - the most

Weinig = little - less than - the least

Slecht = bad - worse than - the worst

Goed = good - better than - the best
