Slide 2 - Diapositive

Course description
Students will learn basic Dutch vocabulary and grammar (CEFR level A1) while learning about Dutch culture and living in the Netherlands. Intercultural communication within Dutch culture will be a major theme. Students will end the term with not only a deeper understanding of the Dutch language but also a clearer picture of what it is like living in the Netherlands as an international resident and working within Dutch societal structures. Students who already have advanced Dutch skills will dive deeper into intercultural communication.

Assessment description
Students will be assessed on two assignments: a vocabulary quiz, and an essay. The vocabulary quiz is an individual assignment and it will be on paper during the last class. The essay is a group assignment and will be submitted on Gradework. Details on the assignments, assessment rubrics and deadlines are on Moodle. Both assessments are graded on a pass/fail basis and must be passes to earn credit for Communication 1.
