Promote equality of opportunity and anti discriminatory practice by reviewing example work to enhance knowledge and understanding of this criteria. (S1.26) 
Understand how a range of biological and environmental factors may impact children's learning and development with a review of Bronfenbrenner's bio ecological systems theory. (K1.2)

Biological and environmental factors that may influence development. 
Often children of the same age will not show the same rate and sequence of development, this can occur due to many variations in factors both indirect and direct. 
Biological factors
  • Physical traits (genetic inheritance) - Height, physical strength, face shape and eye colour
  • Physical health - Asthma, diabetes, Anaemia, broken bones.
  • SEN - Some special needs are due to chromosomal absences, some link to pregnancy and birth (Foetal alcohol syndrome, Dyselxia, ASD, sensory processing disorder).
  • Disabilities 

Research task 
You will be allocated a SEN & disability biological factor to research. 

You will collaborate your findings on a joint google slide as a group.

Inequality in Early Years Foundation 

The Sutton Trust Champions is an educational charity in the United Kingdom that aims to improve social mobility and address children who may be disadvantaged. This charity does this through evidence led programmes and research.

Use a range of books and stories with children, these should be made available to children at all times but supported through adult intervention. 

Resources need to reflect cultural diversity, for example the role play location could have alternating themes.
