2. SKIMMEN: kijk naar de titel, inleiding, naam van de schrijver, kopjes, etc. Wat weet je al van het onderwerp? ELZA: let op de eerste en laatste zin van de alinea's/
3. Voorkennis: wat weet je al van het onderwerp?
4. Structuur van de tekst gebruiken-signaalwoorden
5. SCANNEN: gericht zoeken naar het antwoord op de vraag: Lees de alinea goed door.
6. Gedetailleerd lezen: woord voor woord, regel voor regel lezen om het antwoord op een vraag te vinden.
7. WOORDBETEKENISSEN RADEN: Probeer lastige woorden te begrijpen via de context; lees stukje verder of terug
8. Gebruik een woordenboek als je het niet uit de context kan halen
