Named after Queen Victoria.

1837-1901

The people cared a lot about working hard, being respectable, family and religion.

During the next weeks we'll learn more about the people of the Victorian era and what their lives looked like.

During Victorian times, a lot changed.

Industrial Revolution

Population doubled from 16 to 37 million 

More people living in cities

Lots of new inventions

Vacation was invented!

 

Back then

Buying all the items you needed meant trips to multiple different stores. There were no supermarkets!

Activity

In pairs: decide in what kind of shops you could buy the following items from back in Victorian times.

You have 5 minutes to decide. Remember that supermarkets only started to be around in the 1920's.

- A loaf of bread
