what if two things are equal?

superlative 

shows one thing is the extreme

biggest - meanest - tallest - worst

"My cat is the tallest of the two"

"my cat is more orange than the other, which makes it the best"

use 'the' and usually end with -est

some exceptions

good - better - best

bad - worse - worst

many - more - most

far - farther - farthest

far - further - furthest
