- of which you know when they too place

Past simple: affirmative

You remember: an affirmative sentence is a sentence in which you state that something is true. (so not a question, nor a negative sentence)

Regular or irregular

-Regular: you can always apply the same rule

-Irregular: doesn't follow any rules

How do you make a regular
past simple

The rule

Infinitive+ ed

However sometimes something happens to the spelling

Consonant+ y:                         y becomes - ied 

Vowel and a single consonant :              consonant is doubled

Infinitive ends on :                only add a d 

PAST SIMPLE:

PAST SIMPLE:

1. I have lived in Castricum for 13 years.

The rule

For questions or negative sentences in the past simple you use a form of to do:

I saw the child -> Did I see the child? -> I didn't see the child.

He worked hard -> Did he work hard? -> He didn't work hard.

After a form of to do -> use the infinitive!

Turn this sentence into a question:
The dog jumped over the fence.

Make this sentence negative:
We saw the dog jump.

Make this sentence negative:
The children swam in the river.

Turn this sentence into a question:
