The Story
Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare early in his career about two young Italian star-crossed lovers whose deaths ultimately reconcile their feuding families

Characters in the scene
Romeo: Protagonist. Is love sick over another girl because she didn't want to sleep with him.
Benvolio: Romeo's cousin-- a Montague. One of Romeo's best friends.
Mercutio: Romeo's best friend. Not a Montague or Capulet. 
Tybalt: A Capulet and Juliet's cousin. Nemesis of Romeo
Prince: The Prince, sends Romeo to exile

What's happening?
Romeo is so in love with Juliet that is pains him to see their families fighting. He tries to mend his relationship with Tybalt, but after Tybalt kills Mercutio, who is Romeo's best friend, he goes to avenge his death by killing Tybalt. 
Because the two families have been feuding, the Prince has warned them not to cause any trouble. He sends him to exile when he finds out that Romeo killed Tybalt. A future with Juliet cannot happen anymore.
