Do/Does
In the present tense (tegenwoordige tijd) a question is made by starting with do or does.

Do you drive a car?
Does he like dogs?

In the past tense (verleden tijd) we start a question with did an change the verb to the present tense. 

He ran to the shop.

She flew to London.

Am, are, was, were
If the form of to-be (am, are, was ,were)  is in the sentence it goes to the front when made into a question. 

They were best friends.

Two verbs 
When there's two verbs in the sentene the first goes to front in the questioning form.
