In the next slides you are going to form questions based on a sentence given, if this goes well, we'll  go through the explanation quickly, if it's a bit hard, we'll take more time.

Do/Does

In the present tense (tegenwoordige tijd) a question is made by starting with do or does.

Do you drive a car?

Does he like dogs?

They bought a new car together.

Did

In the past tense (verleden tijd) we start a question with did an change the verb to the present tense. 

He ran to the shop.

Did he run to the shop? 

She flew to London.

Did she fly to London?

He was late to the party.

Am, are, was, were

If the form of to-be (am, are, was ,were)  is in the sentence it goes to the front when made into a question. 

They were best friends.

Were they best friends?

I have met him before.

Two verbs 

When there's two verbs in the sentene the first goes to front in the questioning form. 

She could remember his name.

 Could she remember his name?

She has locked the front door.
and
He had two brothers.

You are going to write an email either alone or in pairs.

You can choose the subject of your email yourself or pick one provided on an upcoming slide. You can also use the theory of B1 to help you.

1. Decide what your subject is going to be. (dance lessons, new trainers, a test etc.)

2. Why are you writing about this subect? (asking information, making a complaint etc.)

3. What are 3 things you want to communicate?

4. Follow the email structure: opening, intro, core and closing (you can find this under theory of B1).

5. Does your language fit the subject?
