Wanneer gebruik je "would"
and "would like"?

• Uit beleefdheid : 

o Would you help me with my homework?

o (Zou je mij willen helpen met mijn huiwerk?)

• Als iets niet zo is:

- If I had studied harder, I would have passed the exam.

→ Would gebruik je wanneer iets niet echt gebeurde, maar je zegt hoe het zou zijn geweest als dingen anders waren.

- If we had left earlier, we would have caught the train.

I would like a slice of cake, please. (Beleefd verzoek.)

She would like to learn French. (Wens of verlangen.)

Wat is een ontkenning?

Ontkenningen in verschillende vormen!

• Een vorm van to be (zijn) I am not You are not, he is not
• Een vorm van can (kunnen) I cannot, He can't, We cannot
• Andere werkwoorden met don't and doesn't

I don't want to do my homework.

She doesn't like strawberries. 

We don't want to go to the party. 

Wanneer gebruik je doesn't en wanneer gebruik je don't?

Als we een ontkenning maken komt er not achter am/are/ is (dus to be) te staan 

• They are late.                They are not / aren't late.
• He is 12 years old.        He is not / isn't 12 years old.
• I am at home.              I am not / I'm not at home.

Als er can in de zin staat, dan zet je not achter can. 

Dit moet altijd aan elkaar geschreven--> dus: cannot  

Je mag ook afkorten en can't gebruiken

• You can do it.           You cannot  / can't do it.
• He can see you.       He  cannot / can't see you.
• They can fix it.          They  cannot / can't fix it.

Om de ontkenning te maken zet je 

don't of doesn't  voor het werkwoord

Dus als je een ontkenning maakt van zinnen waar geen am/ are /is of can in staat, 

 zet don't of doesn't  voor het werkwoord

They eat an apple.            They don't eat an apple. 

I sleep a lot.                         I don't sleep a lot.

We go to Spain.                 We don't go to Spain.

Als je een ontkenning maakt van zinnen waarin het werkwoord niet am , is,  are of can is, moet je altijd 2 dingen doen:

zet don't of doesn't voor het werkwoord  om de ontkenning te maken

2

zet het werkwoord in de zin terug in de vorm van het hele werkwoord

Mary eats an apple. He/she/It eats an apple.

Het werkwoord : eats moet terug naar de                                                   vorm van het hele werkwoord:

en wordt weer: eat  (de -s verdwijnt dus)

Mary doesn't eat an apple.

He/she/It doesn't  eat an apple.
