Why is the term Fake News used?

Trump is 2017 was not very happy with the moderate turnout at his inauguration. He claimed it was the busiest inauguration ever. The photo that was taken was edited by the photographer at Trump's request to make it look busier. When it came out in the media that the photo had been edited, Trump called it fake news.

influencers sometimes get money for spreading fake messages. People who follow them are more likely to believe an influencer.
In Facebook groups, fake messages are often spread. People reinforce each other's belief of disinformation and start believing in conspiracy theories.

Because fake messages are spread on the Internet through google and social media. Cookies and algorithms cause a person to be presented with even more fake messages. A person becomes so influenced by the disinformation that it becomes difficult to get out. This creates conspiracy theories.
