Every text you read has a lot of information in it. When you tell someone in short what the text is about, you make a summary (= samenvatting)

In a summary, you find the most important information of the text. How can you find the most important information?
• Look at the title of the text.
• And look at the headings of the paragraphs (= tussenkopjes).
The heading of a paragraph tells you (most of the time) what the most important part of that paragraph is.
Hint: a summary has no details or examples.

Slide 9 - Diapositive

Now, you are going to read the text actively.

• Read the text, together with a classmate.
• While reading, talk about the text together. Do you understand everything? Do you know all the words?
• Also, during reading, look for the most important information in every piece of text. Mark it in the text and write this information down in the table.
