Grammar 9  - Tag Questions:

Als de zin bevestigend is, is de tag question ontkennend.

Als de zin ontkennend is, is de tag question bevestigend.

Iris can play the piano, can't she?

Batman has a sidekick, doesn't he? 

Tag question

Het onderwerp van de tag question moet I, you, he, she, it, we, you of they zijn.

Your mother is 40 years old, isn't she.

Staat er een vorm van 'to be' 'to have got' of een hulpwerkwoord  (can/should/will etc.) in de zin? Dan gebruik je deze in de tag question. 

She isn't happy, is she? 

Your mother has got a black car, hasn't she? 

Tom can swim, can't he? 

Is dit niet het geval, dan gebruik je:

Present simple:

- do / don't : They play football, don't they? 

- does / doesn't (bij onderwerpen he/she/it): Your sister  works as a nurse, doesn't she? 

Past simple: 

- did / didn't: You went to the cinema, didn't you?
