 Dear Sir/Madam, (if you do not know who you are writing to)

  • Use capital letters
  • Never use a first name
  • Always end the salutation with a comma

  • Part 1: Introduction - State the reason of writig your letter.
                Last week, I read your job listing that made me eager to apply.
  • Part 2: Body  - Provide background information. 
                One paragraph per subject
  • Part 3: Conclusion - What do you want to achieve? 
                I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Blank line between every paragraph!

Formal Language
  • Do not use abbreviations (it is, do not) 
  • No slang (going to, not gonna)
  • Use formal linking words (not But, And at the beginning of the sentence. Instead, try "however", "also".)
