What Are Fractions?
Fractions represent parts of a whole. The top number (numerator) represents the part we have, and the bottom number (denominator) represents the whole.

Types of Fractions
There are proper, improper, and mixed fractions. Proper fractions have a numerator smaller than the denominator, improper fractions have a numerator larger than the denominator, and mixed fractions combine whole numbers and fractions.

Equivalent Fractions
Equivalent fractions represent the same part of a whole, but in different forms. They have different numerators and denominators, but represent the same value.
