Which indefinite pronouns do you remember?

Some / Any

Zoals je in de eerste klas hebt geleerd gebruik je 

Some: in bevestigende zinnen

Any: in vragen en ontkenningen

Dat geldt ook voor alle combinaties met -thing, -one, -body etc.

Some, en alle combinaties ervan, gebruik je alleen in vragen wanneer het verwachte antwoord 'ja' is.

Gebruik van 'some'...

Some: een of andere

I got some guy asking me questions on music.

Some +getal: ongeveer

There were some 300 people at the concert.

Gebruik van 'any'... 

Any = elke, wie/welke/wat dan ook

Ask anyone in this class.

You can call anytime.

Bijna + niets / niemand / nergens = hardly + anything/anyone/anywhere

Hardly anyone studied for the exam.

My cold is so bad, I can hear hardly anything.

Both: geldt voor elk van de twee

They are both doctors.

Both ... and... = zowel ... als...

Both Tom and Gino are at school.

Either = de een en/of de ander, een van de twee

You can read either one of those books, they're good.

Either ... or... = of... of...

You have this either Harry Potter or Twilight.

Neither = geen van beiden

I called Rob and John, but neither answered their phone.

Neither ... nor... =noch... noch...

I like neither chocolate nor chips.

each = gebruik je om persoon of ding afzonderlijk te benadrukken

Each student came to say goodbye to the teacher.

each other = elkaar --We know each other.

each = per stuk -- The roses are 50p each.

every: gebruik je als je denkt aan mensen of dingen in een groep

Teaching every student the same lesson might not work.

no = geen. Gevolgd door een zelfstandig naamwoord.

There is no food in the house.

none = geen. Staat alleen of gevolgd door 'of...'

None of my students was at the party

I was looking for milk. There was none.
