Slide 1 - Diapositive

Program
  • Lesson goals
  • Explanation:  microscopy + Drawing rules
  •  Workshop:               practical

Slide 2 - Diapositive

Learning goal
I n this lesson, you will learn:

 - the parts of the  microscope
    their function
 - prepare a slide and look at it
 - make a biological drawing

Slide 3 - Diapositive

Microscope

Slide 4 - Diapositive

What can you do with the microscope

Slide 5 - Carte mentale

De microscope
- To see things, we cannot see with the naked eye.

- Invented by the Dutchman Antoni van Leeuwenhoek

Slide 6 - Diapositive

Slide 7 - Vidéo

De Microscope
The two main microscopes are:

          1. Electron microscope.
          2. Light microscope.
At school, we work with the light microscope.

De microscope

Learn the parts of the microscope in 3 minutes

Eyepiece lens = the top lens, which is one you look through
Tube = the tube holding the eyepiece lens
revolving nosepiece = you use this to select different obkective lenses
objective lenses = the bottom lenses. magnification 4x, 10x en 40x
Stage = this is where you put the specimen on
Arm = you hold onto the microscope here.
Small knob = this let you adjust the focus precisely
Bulb = provides light
Diaphragm = you use this to adjust the amount of light
Base = the bottom of the microscope
timer
3:00
Large knob = you use this to raise or lower the stage quickly to get a sharp view. (only with objective lens 4 x)

Slide 20 - Sondage

The drawing rules (repetition)

Slide 21 - Diapositive

Drawing rules
- What do you draw?
- Where will be the text?
-  Drawing rules
- How should we apply the drawing          rules?

Slide 22 - Diapositive

Which drawing rule line is incorrect?
A
Draw and write with a pencil

Name the parts of your drawing
C
Color your drawing
D
Write a title at the top of your drawing

Slide 23 - Quiz

Materials and the slide

  • slide
  • coverslip
  • object (the object you are going to look at)
  • water
The specimen consists of:

Slide 29 - Diapositive

How to make a specimen

You make the specimen on your own table/desk.
-     1 drop of water on the object glass
-    Use 1 leaf or a piece of a leaf of waterweed
-    Put the leaf in the drop (not double!)
-    Put the cover slip on (make sure there are no air bubbles)
-   Remove any excess moisture (dab with a cloth)

Slide 30 - Diapositive
