What are the goals for today's lesson?

The chronological start of the story. This is were the setting of the story is explained and where the characters are introduced.
The first 'accident', the catalyst that set the story in motion.

Think of Gandalf handing the One Ring to Frodo
The culmination of the story, every action and every single piece of tension has been building up to this point. 
This is the most intense moment (either mentally or physically)
Series of conflicts and crisis leading up to the climax.
Events that happen after the climax, loose ends are being tied up. You can sense the end of the story coming.
The main problem/conflict of the story is solved. This can be done by the main character or someone else.
Any remaining secrets, mysteries or questions are answered by the author.
Sometimes the author lets the readers think of what the future of this character entails.

Think of these things when building a story?
- 2 to 3 characters (make them 3d characters)
- the world they inhabit (the rules, the era, government, etc.)
- the future technology (how does it work, why is it used, what impact does it have on your world?)
- conflict. (What was the status quo/starting situation of the world? What took place that made the character go on an adventure?)
