 Wat zijn rangtelwoorden?

Rangtelwoorden (ordinal numbers) gebruik je om een volgorde aan te geven.

Wat weet je al over rangtelwoorden?
Hoe zeg je eerste, tweede en derde in het Engels?

1. first, twoth, thirth
2. first, second, thirth
3. frist, second, threeth
4. first, second, third

Een rangtelwoord maak je (bijna !) altijd door er   

-th achter te zetten.

Voorbeeld:

Four  -  Fourth 

Six  -   Sixth

 Seven  -  Seventh 

sixteen - sixteenth

Uitzonderingen:

First - Second - Third (en twenty-first, thirty-second, etc.).

five - fifth 

eight - eighth

nine - ninth

twelve - twelfth

twenty - twentieth
(thirty - thirtieth, forty -  fortieth enz..)

Rangtelnummers (ordinal numbers)

Last two letters of the words= make up the ordinal number 

first - last two letters are 'st' so put after 1 = 1st

second - last two letters are 'nd' put after 2 = 2nd

third - last two letters are 'rd' so put after 3 = 3rd

fourth - last two letters are 'th' so put after 4 = 4th
