You sit in the same place every lesson, so I can get to know you easily. Remember where you sit in the English classroom.

You must bring your own book to class every lesson. You must also bring an A-4 notebook. Bring your own device and earphones too, but leave them in your bag until I tell you that you can use them.

Websites
In my classes you will often need to use your laptop.
Make sure you save your files for English in 1 place and add the websites
we use to your saved webpages. You can also write them down or use a handy system like symbaloo.com. 

Download the LessonUp App ( or use the website) and join your class by using your class code.  CH4Entl_B:      irbrr

Write your user name, password and the classcode in your notebook.
Install a free program that allows you to read digital books, such as Adobe Digital Editions or you can use a webbrowser extension like an Epub Reader.

Make an account with your first and last name and your schoolmail.
Say that you are 18 ( pupils in England are not allowed to register for school sites themselves).

Exemptions
Pupils who are in havo 4 for the second time do not have any exemptions for English. You have to do everything again!

In class
  • always (try to) speak English
  • always bring your Open World First book
  • always bring your notebook and a blue and red pen, and a marker
  • always bring your laptop and earphones
  • always do your weektask. 
  • always ask questions if something is not clear. There are no stupid questions!

Take responsibility
I want you to take responsibility for your own learning process.
  • Come and talk to me if you have any trouble with English. 
  • You can only use you laptop / i-pad when I tell you to. Until then it remains closed ( in your bag). 
  • To avoid distractions during class you keep your phone in your bag without me having to tell you this all the time.

  • You can find important information in the Magister ELO and on  Lesson Up
  • You get a lesson planner/studiewijzer for a whole period.
  • The first unit we will do together so you get used to the book.
  • Write the exercises in your notebook and correct them with a pen of a different colour. Take notes when I am explaining grammar. Always indicate clearly which unit and which exercise something belongs to.

You will have to read two  books for the test  in the third period.

End of every lesson
At the end of class you will 
  • Write down what you still need to do for this week (see weekly tasks) and any deadlines you've been given. 
  • Ask any final questions you have. Don't leave anything for later! 
  • Pack your bags and take all trash with you. You are mature enough to pick up after yourselves.  

You can put your things away 1 minute before the end of the lesson, but not before! There is no school bell.
