Going to = gaan

• Iemand is iets van plan in de toekomst:

He is going to go to Utopia in 2020. 

• Je doet een voorspelling met bewijs / 99% zekerheid:
• Look at those clouds! It is going to rain.
• I had all my answers wrong. I am going to fail the test.

Will 

• Om iets aan te bieden, beloftes, aankondigingen, besluiten
  

She will not buy a new robot. 

The race will start in a few minutes.

• Je doet een voorspelling zonder bewijs.

I think we will win the lottery tomorrow.
They will not be here on time.
