  • Ghandi had other goals besides ending the English occupation of India
  • He also wanted to end the caste system and give women more rights.

  • India becomes independent, but the former colony breaks up into two (India and Pakistan), later three countries (Bangladesh) with millions (!) of casualties.
  • The caste system wasn’t abolished -->
  • Women didn’t get more rights.
