Introductie

Part of the British Values series. In this lesson, pupils will look at the word 'fair' through reading the story 'Farmer Duck'. They will then use their ipads to take pictures of their friends working together.

Instructies

We have designed our British Values lessons so that teachers can pick up and teach a topic to their class with confidence.
We have chosen to use a balance of interactive tools and 'unplugged' creative activities.

Lessons can be taught directly from the LessonUp slides but work best when children have access to the pupil app

There is a quick help guide here
Why doesn't the farmer
help the duck?

Slide 6 - Woordweb

This question has been added to gather the children's views.
You may need to offer a word bank or scaffolding to support with vocabulary.
The duck was treated unfairly by the farmer

Slide 7 - Tekstslide

Remind children of the word 'unfair' and what this means.
You might wish to look at other words which have the prefix 'un' to explore how this changes the meaning of a root word.

The animals worked as a team as this made it fair for everyone.

Slide 8 - Tekstslide

This image from the story may need further discussion.
Do the children agree with how the animals decided to take action against the farmer? What would they have done? What if the farmer had been hurt?
We need to work together to make our world fair.

This poll can give you a quick snapshot of the class and an insight into who may need to explore the issue in more detail. The results will be displayed anonymously but you can look into how each child has answered the poll in the assessment view.

Aardappeloproer
1917

Enkele Amsterdamse vrouwen zagen dat er een schip vol aardappelen in een van de grachten lag. Ze gingen erop af en plunderden het schip: hun schorten vol aardappelen. De dag erna waren er meer plunderaars. Pas nadat zes mensen door het leger werden doodgeschoten, keerde de rust terug
