Before you start preparing your lesson, take some time to reflect on the following questions and steps. Use this lesson plan as a guide.

🎯 DEFINE LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Remember that teachers often use your lessons alongside their own materials, unless your content completely replaces their existing resources. To ensure alignment, take the time to familiarise yourself with the curriculum. Teaching goals are clearly outlined in textbooks, so reviewing a textbook can help you understand them and consider how your expertise can complement them.

Collaborate with schools or teachers to ensure your lesson materials meet their needs.

🎯 DEFINE LEARNING OBJECTIVES

After understanding the curriculum, determine what you want students to achieve with your lesson. Ideally, your lesson should aim to develop their knowledge, skills, or perspectives. Keep your objectives clear and specific (e.g., “After this lesson, you can create a one-minute stop-motion video”). Aim for a maximum of three objectives per lesson.

Make objectives student-focused:
"By the end of this lesson, you can/I can...".

📚 Align with School Subjects

Once you’ve established your learning objectives, identify the school subjects your lesson will complement. Review other lessons or textbooks related to your topic and adopt their terminology to maintain consistency.
