Present continuous or to be going to

Present continuous:

it is used to talk about appointments in the near future of which the time and/or place are fixed.

am/is/are + verb + -ing

To be going to:

- it is used when you talk about a plan, something which isn't fixed.

- it is used for things you don't have any control about like the weather.
