• To say that something happened in the past and is still important.
  

• There is a link between the past and the present.
  

• To talk about something that began in the past and is still going on.
  

• To talk about experiences up until now.

Present perfect:

Past Simple

Verschil present perfect en past simple

• Bij de past simple is de actie in het verleden nu afgelopen.
  

• Bij de present perfect is de actie nog bezig of is er nog een link met het verleden.

Verschil present perfect en past simple

Signaal woorden:

Present perfect: already, for, since, how long.
Past simple: last year, yesterday, in 2010, an hour ago.

I have known him all my life.
