Slide 1 - Tekstslide

Today:
1. Inside the earth
2. Endogenic versus exogenic forces
3. Homework assignments.

Slide 2 - Tekstslide

Inside the earth
The crust: The layer on which we all live.
Mantle: First layer under the crust - magma flows.
Outer Core: Supports the Mantle
Inner Core: Boiling hot middle of the earth

Slide 3 - Tekstslide

Slabs/Plates
The earth's crust is divided in slabs/plates. These 'float'on the fluid mantle.

This causes the earth's crust to change --> tektonic movement

Slide 7 - Tekstslide

Endogenic versus Exogenic
Mountainranges are formed through endogenic forces.

But, exogenic forces also affect mountainranges.

Slide 8 - Tekstslide

Endogenic
Exogenic

Slide 9 - Tekstslide

Endogenic forces help to form young mountainranges
Exogenic forces break down young mountainranges.

Slide 10 - Tekstslide

Mountainranges are affected by weathering and erosion

Weathering = breaking down of rock
Erosion = transportation of weathered material

Slide 11 - Tekstslide

Process of weathering/erosion
Process:

1. Weathering makes rock break down high in the mountains.
2. Weathered material falls down.
3. It is transported to other places by glaciers, rivers, wind and sea.
4. During this transportation process, the landscape is eroded.
