Present simple 
The present simple can be used for facts, habits and timetables:

FACT: Water boils when it reaches 100 degrees.
HABIT: Peter plays tennis every day.
TIMETABLE: The train leaves from platform 6.

When do you use a present perfect? 
- You use the present perfect if something has started in the past but is still going on in the present..

  1. Something happened in the past and is still relevant for now + you want to emphasis the duration of it (the activity).
