5 ways:

  • using 'will'
  • using 'shall'
  • using 'to be going to'
  • using the present simple
  • using the present continuous

Slide 10 - Tekstslide

Using 'will'
1) To make predictions
(of which you are not 100% sure)
I think the black horse will win.
2) To talk about future facts
The sun will rise tomorrow.
3) for instant (spontaneous) decisions
Don't worry. I'll help you!
4) to make promises
I will bring you a present back from Rome.
5) to offer to do something for someone (in affirmative (=bevestigend) sentences)
I will help you with that.

Slide 11 - Tekstslide

Using 'shall'
1) to offer to do something for someone (in question form)
Shall I give you a hand with that?
2) to make suggestions
Shall we go to the park tomorrow?
3) to ask for advice
What shall we do about that broken window?
Note: 'Shall' is only used in questions,
and only with 'I' and 'we'

Slide 12 - Tekstslide

Using 'to be going to'
1) to talk about plans in the near future
We are going to open a new store soon.
2) to make a prediction (of which you are pretty sure because there is evidence)
He is going to be late for his meeting because his car is broken.
