March on Versailles

• Oktober 1789
• Result: Louis forced to live in Paris and listen to the National Assembly. 

Flight to Varennes

• 1791
• Louis tries to escape to form an army and retake power.
• But is arrested.

Reign of terror

• By a group called the Jacobins.
• Led by Maximilien de Robespierre.
• Laywer and member of the National Assembly.

1794

• Robespierre was executed for dictatorial behaviour and the Directoire was created
  

Directoire

• In the new constitution the trias politica is used:
• Legislative power: a chosen Parliament and senators
  
• Executive power: Five directors
  
• Judiciary power: Judges
