Briefing π
You are going to give a pitch for a new reality TV show.
A pitch is a presentation you give to convince someone (like a company) to work together or fund your project.
In this assignment, you are going to give a pitch to a TV network about an idea for a new reality TV show. This can be anything you want, for example a talent show like American Idol, or a reality TV show about a job or a company like Below Deck. There are no wrong ideas!
The most important part of this task in convincing the listener why your idea would be entertaining, and why audiences would love it. On top of that, you have to promote yourself: why are you the right person to make this reality TV show?
Briefing

Briefing π
An introduction: What is the idea?
The selling points: Why is this idea special, unique, or better than similar projects?
The match: Why is your group the right choice to carry out this idea?
The process: How would you carry out this idea? How would it work?
The conclusion: Summarise your key points to try and convince your listener one more time.

Do Research
First, do some research. Look up trailers and examples of reality TV shows on YouTube, such as:
competition or challenge shows such as Survivor and The Amazing Race
talent shows such as The Voice, Project Runway, or So You Think You Can Dance
lifestyle and celebrity shows such as Keeping Up with the Kardashians and The Real Housewives
dating shows such as Love Island and Sexy Beasts
shows about jobs and businesses such as Below Deck and Selling Sunset
Make notes during your research. What stands out about these shows?

Brainstorm
Now you have done some research, itβs time to come up with the ideas for your reality TV show. Here are some questions to help structure your brainstorm:
What category of reality TV show do you want to do? (for example a talent show, a social experiment, a challenge or competition, following peopleβs jobs etc)
What are your hobbies or interests? Could you turn these into a show?
Write down all of your suggestions in a mindmap, and then agree on one idea.
Tip: Donβt forget to give your show a name!
Step 2

More questions!
Think about the category of your show β for example, a talent show will have different elements than a show about a company.
What is the structure of an episode?
How does it start and end?
Is the structure of every episode similar, or could every episode be different?
