By the end of this lesson you can.....

- work together in a group 

- research a topic and find useful information online

- write a review that shows both the positive and negative aspects of your experience

What is a review? What will a review tell the reader?

What information would you mention if you were writing a review?

How to write a review?

1. Know what you are going to say:  If I were telling a friend about this, what would I want their main takeaway to be?
2. Likes and dislikes:  If review is truly critical it needs to include both the positive and the negative in it. 
3. Recommendation:  The star rating may be seen first but when the reader skims the text, they want to know your recommendation along with a short explanation of why you do or don't recommend it.  

Tips: 

• Judge based on what the activity / restaurant/ product is. Be reasonable in your expectations.

• Assume the best. That the company / place is not out to get you personally.
• Check your writing. 

SB page 98, exercise 1

- In your groups complete exercise 1

- As you cannot go to the movies at the moment, discuss either a book you read or a film you have seen on Netflix recently.

- You have 3 minutes to discuss.

Today's task

With your group write a review (50 - 100 words) about an activity or a restaurant that you have come across in the country  and city your group decided to visit.  As a group decide whether you will write a positive or negative review.

Include both pros and cons in your review.

Include a recommendation in your review.

Hand into Google Classroom before Friday.

Homework assignment

Use your mobile phone and record a vlog.  Hand this in by Monday.

Each member of your group does a different section of the vlog (start, middle, end)

The vlog should be between 6-9 minutes long

Talk about the country you have visited and discuss at least 9 of the research questions you answered in the previous weeks, in your vlog.

Send me a link to your vlog so I can view this.  Also put the link (all students) in Google Classroom.  I will give each group feedback.

Hand in your groups' review in Google Classroom (all students) before Friday

Work in your groups on the vlog as homework and hand in by Monday next week.
