Grammar: future

will + werkwoord (ontkenning: will not/won't) 

• bij voorspellingen, wensen, hopen, beloftes, veronderstellingen
• als je je iets voorneemt op het moment van spreken
• als iets in de toekomst gaat gebeuren

- I promise I'll call you tomorrow.

- I think she will visit me this weekend.

- They hope they will be home by then. 

- There's someone at the door. I will open it.

- The weather forecast said it will rain tomorrow.

- We will be home this evening. 

shall

Bij de onderwerpen I (ik) en we (wij) kun je ook 'shall' gebruiken.

Vraag je naar iemands voorkeur of doe je een voorstel moet je bij I en we shall gebruiken. 

Grammar: future

am/are/is going to + werkwoord

• bij bestaande plannen in de toekomst
• als er duidelijke aanwijzingen zijn dat iets gaat gebeuren

- We are going to visit my aunt's this weekend.

- He is going to join the army after highschool.

- Look at that wobbly chair. It is going to break any moment.

- My mum is pregnant, she is going to have a baby.

Grammar: future

present continuous (am/are/is + ww + ing) 

• bij afspraken of plannen waarvoor al voorbereidingen zijn getroffen.

- We are flying to Rome this evening.

- They are getting married next month. 

Grammar: future

simple present (hele ww / hele ww + s (bij he/she/it)) 

• bij vaste tijden.

- The store opens at ten o'clock.

- The train departs at a quarter past three.
