Explain the symbolism behind the use of bees in this novel.

Bees are often used to symbolise community and cooperation. 

The disappearance of these bees show how these values are no longer present in the current society. However, these values reappear with the main characters that were stung.

Hajr decides to go to the USA after he is released, why is that?

The headquarters of the company he works for in Sri Lanka is based in the USA. His work is his life, he really wants to see the headquarters.

Why is the use of Solon such a problem on the island the main characters go to together?

Solon is a drug that makes you "not care" (a drug that stops people worrying about the future and allows them to live only in the moment.), the community on the island is interdependent, if the members don't care about anything, their entire community will break down.
