Imperative explained

You can use the imperative form to give an order, to give a warning or advice, and (if you use “please”) to make a request.

Hurry up or you’ll miss the show!

Switch the TV off.

Put the flour, milk, and eggs in a bowl and whisk until smooth.

Negative imperative

A negative imperative uses don't + the simple form of a verb (eat, play, be, etc.)

Don't eat in class.

Don't play with your cell phones.

Don't be late.
