Present Simple

When	Something that happens: * regularly / frequently * always / never * schedule

Signal words	always, never, often, sometimes, on Tuesday, every month
Example	He always walk s to school.

Present Continuous

Present continuous

Present Continuous

When	When something happens now . Something that happens for a while .
How	I am walk ing he/she/it is walk ing you/we/they are walk ing
Signal words	now, at the moment, !
Example	The police are investigat ing the murder.

Past Simple

What	Past simple
When	Om aan te geven dat iets in het verleden is gebeurd.
How	Met - ed OF een onregelmatige vorm .
Signal words	Yesterday, last week, last month, two days ago, four days ago, months ago, etc.
Examples	He walked her home last night. I talked to him yesterday. She swam a lot in her spare time during the holidays. Our math teacher taught us a lot last year

Past Continuous

was / were + hele werkwoord + -ing

verleden tijd van to be

bv. to do,

Past Continuous

- when something was happening for a while in the past

He was living abroad at the time. 

- when something that happened in the past is interrupted: 

We were watching TV, when the door bell rang

the interruption is past simple tense

Future

Dit zijn de manieren waarop je de future kunt maken:

•  future met present simple
  
•  future met present continuous
  
•  future met am/are/is going to (plus hele ww)
  
•  future met shall of will (plus hele ww)
  

Future met present simple

Situaties: Voorspelbare regelmaat, rooster, dienstregeling etc.

Gebruik: De gewone tegenwoordige tijd: hele werkwoord + s bij she/he/it

The train leaves at 11:15. 

We close the shop at 12. 

The film starts at 21:15.

De future met present continuous

Situaties: Binnenkort, op een afgesproken tijdstip. Informeel. uitgaan, sporten, samen eten etc.

Gebruik: am/are/is + hele ww met -ing

We are having a party at Danny’s on Friday.

I’m playing football with my mates tomorrow.

De future met to be going to + hele ww

Situaties: Dingen die gaan gebeuren waar bewijs voor is of dingen die eerder al besloten zijn (een vaststaand plan).

Gebruik: am/are/is going to + hele ww

We are going to go to Tanzania next summer.

Look at that cloud, it is going to rain.

De future met will

Situaties: Staat niet vast of dingen die ter plaatse beslist worden. Kan worden afgekort tot ’ll.

Gebruik: will/shall + hele ww

I will help you tomorrow.

I think it will rain then. 

He’ll probably understand.

Future met shall

Situaties: Bij I en we mag je shall gebruiken, ouderwets. Vraag met aanbod of voorstel > shall bij I en we

Gebruik: shall + hele ww

I shall help you tomorrow.

We shall do our best. 

Shall we go out?
